What I photograph
People are the work I take on. Places are the work I can't help but make.
Families and portraits are what I photograph for clients. These are the sessions you can hire me for, with pricing on the next page.
Family Photography
A morning at home, a walk you'd take anyway, the kids half-ignoring you. I stay out of the way and let the day be the day. What comes back is your family as it actually is right now, before it quietly becomes something else.
Portraits
One person, a little time, and enough quiet for you to stop performing. The portrait I want is the one that shows up between the ones you expect - when you forget to hold your face a certain way.
Landscape, cityscape and street are where the camera goes when no one's paying it to. This is my own work, made for the love of it - not offered as paid sessions, but a real part of how I see. Prints are available on request.
Landscape Photography
Open country, lake light, the long flat horizons around the Midwest. I wait for the weather and the hour to agree. These are the places that hold still long enough to be remembered properly.
Cityscape Photography
Chicago at the hours most people miss it - first light on the river, the city emptying out at dusk. A city is just the sum of everyone who built it and stayed. I try to photograph that.
Street Photography
Unplanned, unposed, gone in a second. I walk, I watch, and now and then a whole story passes through one frame. None of it waits for me, which is exactly why it's worth keeping.
